Green Ring City
Sustainable mobility strategies for contemporary cityThe Green Ring concept aims to address this challenge by organizing the city's movement through the expansion and enhancement of tram line 29/30, transforming it into a sustainable, circular transport system that directly integrates with urban junctions functioning as 'Urban Connectors.'
The research explores various strategies for improving transportation planning and redesigns these urban connectors to facilitate a cohesive interaction between multiple urban elements. The central goal is to link pedestrian pathways and transport routes within the ring, giving priority to spaces designed for public use.
This project is dedicated to the urban regeneration and amplification of Milan's Bastion Ring, initially launched at Domus Academy. Later, as project leader at Studio Barreca & La Varra, in collaboration with MIC (Mobility In Chain), I developed the proposal into a comprehensive Vision Plan (Credit: Studio Barreca & La Varra, 2008-2009). Certain elements of the project have been integrated into Milan's new PGT (Piano di Governo del Territorio) as part of the city's 'Green Strategy.'
The project outcomes were presented at various exhibitions, including the Triennale di Milano in 2008 (exhibitor: Domus Academy), Made Expo 2010, and the Milan Green Festival 2011 (exhibitor: Studio Barreca & La Varra).
